About this blog
I am keeping a running log about training and other activities leading up to the New York Avon Walk in October.
It would be wonderful if the only reason I walk is for exercise, but until there is a cure for breast cancer, I will walk to raise awareness and money.
I’m going to need support from many people to reach my goal, and I’m hoping that I can count on you to be part of my support team. You can make a secure online donation through the Avon Foundation website: http://bit.ly/KR2012.
I completed my first Avon Walk in 2006 when I walked 39.3 miles around New York City. I did the NY walk again in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, I also volunteered as a crew member for the first time. I went to Boston and helped at one of the rest stops. In 2009, I was part of the Photo Crew. I took photos at the Boston, New York and Charlotte walks. It was a wonderful experience to follow the walkers, crew, staff and volunteers around the various cities and document the walk activities.
I’ve raised a $30,753 over the past 5 years, walked 181.9 miles and took 5,400 photos.
In addition to the Avon Walk, I also blog about other aspects of my life, including knitting, photography, my animals: Charlie the Keeshond, Ruby the Beagle, and Chicken the cat, as well as general topics that amuse me.
Peace,
Karen

Hi Karen,
I’m not sure if you remember me, but I am the Special Events Coordinator at God’s Love We Deliver. We met back at the Team Captain Kick-Off Party last year. I just registered for the 2008 Avon Walk in NYC, and I was wondering if you could give me some web site/fundraising tips. You folks really inspired me last year. I lost my Mom to breast cancer when I was younger, and now I want to get involved. I appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks!!
