February 6, 2009

ad2Recently ads have been running on Facebook for government stimulus checks ranging from $12,000 –  $26,000.

News flash – THIS IS A SCAM !   But you knew that, didn’t you?

Unless you are AIG or GM, you will not be getting a big fat check from the US government.   You may get a small check – but the government will send it to you.  You do not need to fill out a grant kit to get your check.

The best part of this scam is that it claims that you will receive a grant kit for just $1.99.  The testimonials on the website tell you how easy it is to get the money.  All you need to do is enter your credit card number.  And why wouldn’t you?  For the piddly little sum of $1.99 you will be getting back $15,000 or maybe even $45,000.  That’s a fantastic rate of return.  How fast can you pull your credit card out of your wallet?

Not so fast Sparky.  Scroll down to the bottom of the website.  Keep going, all the way to the bottom.  There it is, the fine print.

After your seven day trial period, your credit card will be AUTOMATICALLY charged $29.95 EVERY MONTH.  ad1In addition, there are two other services which you will activate at the same time, for just $4.95 and $9.95 EVERY MONTH.

So as you can see, the only one who is going to get rich is the person running this scam.
